Located on 3,200 acres of natural beauty, Stone Mountain Park features a wide variety of fun family activities and things to do in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Of course, I don’t wanna miss going there. I just didn’t know when.
My 5th weekend was long in celebration of Memorial Day. Our new friends invited us to series of activities. Outreach on a Saturday, party on a Sunday and hiking for Monday. I was all excited for the outreach because it was part of my planned activities for this travel. Unfortunately, we were late. The activity was done early because more volunteers arrived. I was a little heartbroken. Then Ate Juliet suggested why don’t we visit Ate Rose at work in downtown Atlanta. And just when I thought I’ve had enough pictures of downtown Atlanta, turns out there’s still more…a whole lot more!
Underground Atlanta is a shopping and entertainment district in the Five Points neighborhood of downtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States, near the intersection of the east and west MARTArail lines. First opened in 1969, it takes advantage of the viaducts built over the city’s many railroad tracks to accommodate later automobile traffic. Each level has two main halls, still called Upper and Lower Alabama and Pryor Streets.
It was almost lunch time when we left Underground Atlanta, we went to fetch Ate Rose for lunch. It took us a while to find a place to eat since most are close. We ended up eating at a Spanish Cafeteria just walking distance from Georgia State University.
After lunch, Te Rose went back to work and the 3 of us went to look for the perfect spot to witness the parade of the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival.
Left the Carnival at 3 PM, getting ready for Stone Mountain. Yay! Stone Mountain…at last!
I had fun walking up the trail to the top. It was an easy and enjoyable climb nothing like my usual climbs. I wish I could go there everyday instead of jogging on the treadmill.
